Christian Atsu keen on Vitesse Arnhem stay

Chelsea forward Christian Atsu claims that he could benefit from another season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.

Chelsea forward Christian Atsu has revealed that he is keen to spend another season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem.

The 22-year-old Ghana international joined the Dutch club on a short-term deal in September following his move to Chelsea from Porto.

While accepting that he could be recalled to Stamford Bridge this summer, Atsu believes that staying in the Netherlands would help him to develop quicker.

He told Voetbal International: "It all depends on Chelsea. If they say that I have to stay in London, then why not? Here, I get the chance to develop myself. I have to play every week and at Vitesse we play an attacking system.

"Suppose I move to a bigger club and am placed on the bench or I move to a team that plays counter-attacking football, that would leave me feeling like I am going to the office and taking a nap on my desk.

"I haven't heard anything yet from Chelsea. That will probably happen after the end of the season, like it was at Porto."

Atsu has scored seven goals in 27 games for Vitesse during the current campaign.
