Report: Manchester City want Diego Godin

A report claims that Manchester City want to sign Atletico Madrid centre-back Diego Godin.

Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin.

The 28-year-old, who joined Atletico from Villarreal in 2010, is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in European football.

According to AS, City boss Manuel Pellegrini has identified the Uruguayan international as the perfect player to feature alongside Vincent Kompany in his back four next season.

Manchester United and Chelsea are also believed to be interested, but City's strong relationship with Atletico is believed to stand them in good stead.

Alongside Brazilian international Miranda at Atletico, Godin has formed the best defensive centre-back partnership in La Liga over the last two seasons.
