Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho hits out at sacking culture

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho slams the sacking culture in football amid speculation over his future at the Blues following their poor start to the season.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has hit out the excitement created by the media surrounding the sacking of under-fire managers.

The Portuguese will reportedly be fired by the Blues should his side lose to Liverpool later today following their poor start to the Premier League campaign.

Mourinho believes that the treatment of managers in the press is "sad" given Brendan Rodgers's situation at the Reds, when he was sacked just 18 months removed from a second-place finish.

The 52-year-old is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News: "What I would like to understand is why some people can be so excited and happy with the perspective of somebody losing his job.

"It's sad. The Brendan situation - he was almost winning the Premier League. He was the manager of the season. He won the award from Barclays, the managers' association and everything.

"And suddenly, you were really happy and working hard until he was sacked. It's strange. I don't belong to this world. I'm too much emotional. I hate people losing jobs. Not in football, in everything."

Chelsea face off against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
