Brendan Rodgers to become temporary Chelsea boss if Jose Mourinho sacked?

Recently-sacked Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers could reportedly be named Chelsea's interim boss should they dismiss Jose Mourinho.

Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers could reportedly become Chelsea's interim boss should the Premier League champions opt to part ways with Jose Mourinho.

Rodgers has been out of work since October 4 when he was sacked by the Reds following a three-year spell without winning a trophy at Anfield.

Mourinho's position is under increasing pressure as he has guided Chelsea to just three wins in 10 Premier League games and has had numerous tussles with the Football Association.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, in the event that Mourinho is shown the door, Rodgers could be in line to step in at Stamford Bridge on an interim basis while the club search for a permanent manager.

Rodgers worked as Chelsea's youth and reserve team manager during Mourinho's first spell in charge between 2004 and 2007.

The Blues, who are currently 15th in the league table, will take on Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
