Reece James is reportedly on the verge of signing a new long-term contract with Chelsea.
The 20-year-old starred for Wigan Athletic on loan during the 2018-19 campaign before returning to Stamford Bridge to battle for a first-team spot under Frank Lampard.
The two-time FA Youth Cup winner has made 17 appearances for the Blues during the current season, including 10 Premier League outings having established himself in the first team.
James's current deal at Stamford Bridge will expire in June 2022, but according to The Telegraph, the right-back is closing in on a new contract at the club.
The report claims that the Englishman is expected to pen a five-year contract which will put him in line with a number of other senior players at the capital side.
James did not make his first appearance of the season until October 19 due to an ankle problem.
