Chelsea centre-back David Luiz offers his thanks to departing manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Chelsea defender David Luiz has expressed his gratitude towards Andre Villas-Boas.

Brazilian centre-back Luiz became a regular in the Chelsea starting lineup during Villas-Boas's tenure at Stamford Bridge.

However, following a negative run of results, Villas-Boas was sacked yesterday afternoon.

"Thanks AVB! You are an amazing guy! Big hug," Luiz wrote on Twitter.

Luiz joined Chelsea in January 2011 from Benfica.
