Chelsea manager Antonio Conte describes Diego Costa's disciplinary record in recent weeks as "incredible" after the striker went a ninth match without a booking.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has described Diego Costa's disciplinary record in recent weeks as "incredible".

The striker is renowned for having a fiery temper on the field and looked certain to miss a match through accumulating five yellow cards when he received his fourth of the season against Arsenal on September 24.

However, Costa has not been booked in nine matches since - a run which has coincided with Chelsea's remarkable winning streak - and Conte is hopeful that he can continue that record until the amnesty for five yellows comes into place next month.

"January is arriving no? It's incredible. After the Arsenal defeat Diego had four yellow cards and was on the edge," he told reporters.

Costa scored his 12th goal of the season to fire Chelsea back top of the table with a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion this afternoon.
