Benitez: 'Torres is improving'

Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez says that he can already see improvement in the under-fire Fernando Torres just days into his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez believes that he is already witnessing an improvement in striker Fernando Torres just days into his reign at the club.

The Blues have yet to score since appointing the former Liverpool boss, and drew 0-0 with Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Despite not finding the back of the net in his last five games, Benitez is adamant that the signs are there for Torres to return to his best form.

"We have had maybe five training sessions so far; it is too early but for me we are watching things that are positive," said Benitez.

Elsewhere, star man Juan Mata started on the bench against the Cottagers, and Benitez has put his decision down to a busy fixture list.

"We have too many games now in a few days. We just had to use the squad," he added.

Chelsea travel to West Ham United on Saturday.
