Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Lille

Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday night's Champions League Group H clash with Lille

Frank Lampard will resume his search for a first Champions League win as Chelsea boss when his side take on Lille at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Wednesday night.

The Blues suffered a disappointing opener in Group H as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Valencia, but they go into matchday two off the back of Lampard's first two triumphs as manager at Stamford Bridge.

Victory in Europe is the next target to tick off the list as Chelsea look to win three successive matches for the first time since April against a Lille side that was well beaten by Ajax in their own Champions League curtain-raiser.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension list for Chelsea ahead of the match.

Emerson Palmieri

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: October 19 (vs. Newcastle United)

Lampard has confirmed that Emerson will miss around a month after picking up a thigh injury against Liverpool, with the full-back not expected to feature again until after the next international break.

Antonio Rudiger

Status: Out
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: Unknown

Lampard is hopeful that Antonio Rudiger will not take long to recover from his "recurring" and "ongoing" groin injury, but he stopped short of providing a potential return date for the centre-back with the severity of the problem still up in the air.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Status: Out
Type of injury: Achilles
Possible return date: November 2 (vs. Watford)

Ruben Loftus-Cheek continues to work his way back from an Achilles injury suffered in May and is now back jogging outside. The England international remains at least a month away from returning, though.

Marco van Ginkel

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Marco van Ginkel has not been seen in a Chelsea shirt since 2013 and remains an almost permanent figure in the treatment room as he recovers from a serious knee injury.

N'Golo Kante

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: October 2 (vs. Lille)

Kante missed the weekend win over Brighton & Hove Albion due to a tight hamstring and remains a doubt for the trip to Lille, although Lampard is hopeful of having him available.

Olivier Giroud

Olivier Giroud has missed the last three matches due to a "strong illness", but he is now on the road to recovery and should be fit to feature in some capacity on Wednesday night.

Kurt Zouma
