Preview: Brisbane Roar vs. Perth Glory - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Australian A-League clash between Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two of the A-League's out-of-form teams are set to meet on Sunday as Brisbane Roar attempt to end a seven-match run without a win as they host Perth Glory.

While the hosts are struggling to pick up victories as of late, the visitors have also failed to capture three points in their previous three matches.

Match preview

Brisbane Roar have had a very difficult 2023, winning only a single game since the turn of the year which has led to them dropping down to 11th place.

Despite only losing once in the first 10 games of the season, Warren Moon lost his job this week due to the poor form the Lions have been displaying as of late.

The club have sunk to 11th in the table, and with just a single point keeping them above the foot of the table there is plenty of pressure on the team to turn things around.

The Lions almost managed to get themselves back to winning ways last weekend as they led Sydney FC by a goal to nil after Nikola Mileusnic found the back of the net, but they were left frustrated after conceding a 94th-minute equaliser.

Brisbane Roar have been struggling to pick up wins at home throughout the season, winning just a single match at the Dolphin Stadium, which is form that they will need to change soon.

The visitors have also been out of form as of late and head into this match on the back of four games without a victory which is something that they are hoping to change this time around.

Perth Glory's fixtures have been incredibly open throughout that period with a trio of 2-2 draws and a 4-2 defeat which has been entertaining for neutral fans but difficult for the team.

Last weekend the Glory shared the points with Central Coast Mariners as they let go of a two-goal lead which created real disappointment for them, especially since both the goals they conceded were penalties.

Perth Glory sit just three points above their opponents at the moment, and that is something that they will be hoping to extend this time around.

However, the Glory have struggled on the road this season as they have only won a single match with a lack of goals proving to be a sticking point away from home.

Team News

Nick Green will be looking to make an impact on Sunday as the interim coach for Brisbane Roar, making the lineup unpredictable as he aims to place his own touch on things.

Jordan Holmes should retain his place in goal this weekend, particularly after he saved a penalty in their previous match to showcase his shot-stopping abilities.

Mileusnic is another player that should be featured once again for the hosts due to the attacking presence that he brings in midfield.

The visitors will be able to welcome back their club captain Mustafa Amini from injury, while Darryl Lachman will also be available again following suspension.

They are not the only players that are options for Perth Glory this time around, as Aaron McEneff is available again after he returned to the team from the bench last weekend.

Brisbane Roar possible starting lineup:
Holmes; Neville, Aldred, Chapman; Hingert, Mileusnic, Armiento, Trewin; O'Shea; Kruse, Scepovic

Perth Glory possible starting lineup:
Cook; Beevers, Elsey, Koutroumbis, Khelifi; Forde, Duncan, Amini, Jelacic; Dowse, Ivanovic

We say: Brisbane Roar 2-1 Perth Glory

Both of these teams are out of form and have been struggling a lot recently in a bid to secure positive results.

However, the fact that Brisbane Roar have a new man in charge there could be a slight bounce for them to get back to winning ways here.
