Preview: Brighton & Hove Albion vs. Brentford

Sports Mole previews Chris Hughton's first home game in charge of Brighton & Hove Albion as they host Brentford at the Amex.

Chris Hughton will look to continue his 100% start to life at Brighton & Hove Albion when they welcome Brentford to the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

The Seagulls have turned a corner since the departure of Sami Hyypia in December, going four matches unbeaten and winning their last three, two of which came under the new boss.

Indeed, despite this only being his third game in charge, it will be the second time that Hughton has come up against Brentford as Brighton manager, having recorded a 2-0 win over the Bees in his first match at the helm.

That result saw them through to the fourth round of the FA Cup and is one of three consecutive clean sheets that the club have managed.

Their improved form has seen them edge away from the relegation zone, and they now sit three points above the dotted line.

This will, however, be Hughton's first home game in charge of the club, and their record at the Amex this season has been poor. No team has amassed fewer home points in the division, while they have won just once in front of their own fans since August.

The hosts could be tempted to name the same side that beat Charlton Athletic last time out, with Kazenga LuaLua still a doubt.

Results very much went Brentford's way last weekend as they were one of just two teams in the top six to pick up a victory.

The win over Rotherham United ended a run of three consecutive defeats in all competitions and also saw them climb up to fifth place, keeping their surprise playoff challenge very much alive.

Goals have been a big plus for Mark Warburton's side in recent weeks, and their current run of scoring in 12 straight games is the longest of its kind in the division.

That includes 12 goals in their last five away games, which have seen them pick up three victories having only managed two on the road all season before that.

Their record at Brighton is not great, however, having failed to win any of their last four trips to the Seagulls, drawing one and losing three.

The Bees could name an unchanged side this weekend, with the continued absences of Scott Hogan and Alan McCormack their only major injury concerns.
