Half-Time Report: Early strike puts Brighton & Hove Albion ahead

Brighton & Hove Albion score less than a minute into their match against Huddersfield Town to lead at half time.

Brighton & Hove Albion scored less than a minute into their Championship clash with Huddersfield Town to open up a 1-0 lead at the John Smith's Stadium this evening.

It took the visitors just 16 seconds to open the scoring as they piled forward from the kickoff, allowing Tomer Hemed to cross the ball in for Beram Kayal, who rifled the ball in from the edge of the area.

Kayal was on the charge again with just over 10 minutes played as the early Championship leaders pressed to double their lead, allowing the Israeli striker to drive another 20-yard efforts towards the Huddersfield goal, but it went inches wide.

The home side started to see more of the ball as the half progressed, with Harry Bunn and Nakhi Wells linking up on the edge of the box, but the latter's finish lacked power, leaving David Stockdale with a comfortable save.

Chris Hughton's side continued to look the more likely in front of goal though as Sam Baldock forced a stop from the keeper with a cross from the right, but the visitors could not find a second before the half-time whistle.
