Birmingham City agree the free transfer of former Newcastle United forward Peter Lovenkrands.

Birmingham City have confirmed that former Newcastle United forward Peter Lovenkrands has agreed to join the Championship club.

The 32-year-old has been a free agent since being released from the Magpies and, despite claiming that he was eager to remain in the top flight, the Danish winger has moved to St Andrew's.

A statement on the Blues' official website said: "Personal terms have been agreed with the former Newcastle United man and the 32-year-old is set to report to Wast Hills this morning ahead of the Blues squad returning for 2012-13 pre-season training.

"Lovenkrands will undergo a medical today and Lee Clark hopes to confirm the great Dane as his first signing as Blues boss."

The capture of Lovenkrands will be Clark's first signing as the new Birmingham manager.
