Bayern Munich continue winning run in Bundesliga with victory over FC Koln

Bayern Munich continue their winning run in the Bundesliga by putting four goals past travelling FC Koln at the Allianz Arena.

Arjen Robben scored on his Bayern Munich return as Pep Guardiola's charges claimed the club's 1,000th win in the Bundesliga with a 4-0 victory over FC Koln this afternoon.

The visitors were the first to register an attempt in the opening minutes when Simon Zoller took aim from range, only to see his effort safely held by Munich stopper Manuel Neuer.

Robben might have got himself on the scoresheet as early as the seventh minute, but he was thwarted by Timo Horn in the Koln goal.

The visiting stopper was in action again just a few minutes later as he found himself rushing off his line to prevent Thomas Muller, who reacted well to meet Robert Lewandowski's knock-down.

Guardiola's men soon took possessional control of the encounter, and they might have found themselves ahead had Lewandowski done better with his headed attempt in the 29th minute.

The German champions continued to mount sustained pressure on the away side, who eventually broke when Robben took hold of a loose ball in the area to round Horn and make it 1-0 to the hosts.

The Bavarian club's lead was doubled just a few moments later in the 40th minute, this time as Arturo Vidal drilled home from the edge of the box to cap off some neat footwork from youngster Kingsley Coman.

Munich came out positively in the second half, and it was not too long before they found a third goal when Douglas Costa picked out Lewandowski, who made no mistake when finding a way past Horn.

The hosts capped the victory off with a fourth goal 13 minutes from time, thanks to a calm Muller who slotted away a penalty following a double-push inside the area from Dominic Maroh and Marcel Risse.
