Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly allocated £80m of their summer budget towards signing Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt.
The 19-year-old's form this season has gained widespread admirers, resulting in a number of clubs lodging big-money bids ahead of next season.
Barcelona had appeared to be De Ligt's most likely destination, partly due to the youngster's Dutch compatriot Frenkie de Jong having already agreed to move to Camp Nou.
However, according to Sport, PSG are ready to outbid the Catalan giants - in terms of both transfer fee and wages - in order to strengthen their backline.
The Ligue 1 champions must ensure that they comply with FFP regulations, although it appears that the club's hierarchy are ready to commit a huge outlay to acquire the services of De Ligt.
PSG are allegedly prepared to pay De Ligt as much as £6.5m more than Barcelona each year.
