Atletico Madrid are reportedly hopeful of signing Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic for £34m when the January transfer window opens for business.
The Croatia international has struggled for regular action at Camp Nou this season and continues to be linked with a move away from the Spanish champions ahead of the winter window.
Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan have all been credited with an interest, but Atletico are also believed to be in the hunt for the 2018 World Cup finalist.
According to Movistar+, Diego Simeone's side are willing to pay £34m to land the experienced midfielder at the start of 2020 and hope that an agreement can be reached with their league rivals.
The 31-year-old, who has a contract with the Catalan giants until the summer of 2021, has made 10 appearances in all competitions for his club this season.
On just one occasion has the midfielder started in La Liga, though, while he has been an unused substitute for the team's last two league fixtures with Levante and Celta Vigo.
