Saturday's Major League Soccer predictions including Red Bulls vs. Inter Miami

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Major League Soccer fixtures, including New York Red Bulls vs. Inter Miami.

Atlanta vs. Nashville (Sunday, 12.30am)

Atlanta United midfielder Thiago Almada (23) celebrates with teammates on July 30, 2023© Reuters

Still licking their wounds from their 2023 Leagues Cup final defeat, Nashville SC visit the Mercedes-Benz Stadium to take on Atlanta United in the MLS on Saturday.

Having failed to win any of the last seven meetings between the sides, the Five Stripes will head into the weekend looking to get one over the visitors.

We say: Atlanta United 2-2 Nashville SC

Atlanta United and Nashville have enjoyed a decent campaign so far and find themselves level on points in the Eastern Conference. Both sides are evenly matched on paper and we predict they will cancel out each other's efforts and settle for a share of the spoils.

Charlotte FC vs. Los Angeles (Sunday, 12.30am)

Charlotte FC forward Patrick Agyemang (33) celebrates with teammates on July 30, 2023© Reuters

Charlotte FC will be looking to snap their run of eight consecutive MLS games without a win when they play host to Los Angeles FC at the Bank of America Stadium on Saturday.

Fresh off the back of an emphatic home victory over Colorado Rapids, Steven Cherundolo's men will head into the weekend seeking to pick up successive League wins for the first time since June.

We say: Charlotte FC 1-2 Los Angeles FC

Buoyed by their resounding victory over the Rapids, Los Angeles FC will lead into the weekend with sky-high confidence. Cherundolo's men take on a Charlotte side who have failed to win their last eight league matches and we are backing them to come away with all three points.

Cincinnati vs. NY City (Sunday, 12.30am)

FC Cincinnati forward Dominique Badji (14) celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal on June 21, 2023© Reuters

After a heartbreaking exit in the US Open Cup earlier this week, FC Cincinnati will shift their focus to the MLS campaign on Saturday as they welcome New York City FC to TQL Stadium.

In their first league fixture in over a month, the Orange and Blue were beaten 3-0 by their state rivals, the Columbus Crew, last Sunday, while the Boys in Blue are now six points behind the playoff line in the Eastern Conference following a 2-0 home loss to Minnesota United.

We say: FC Cincinnati 2-1 New York City FC

Both sides have suffered their share of disappointing results of late, but the Orange and Blue have to be feeling a lot better about their position in the table when compared to the Boys in Blue.

The difference in this one could boil down to quality, and that is something Cincinnati should have a decisive edge in, as the Pigeons have been hesitant and unsure of themselves in the attacking third all year.

Columbus Crew vs. Toronto (Sunday, 12.30am)

Columbus Crew forward Cucho Hernandez (right) celebrates his second goal of the game on August 1, 2023© Reuters

Riding an eight-match MLS unbeaten run at Lower.com Field, the Columbus Crew are back in action Saturday, hosting a Toronto side currently on a lengthy losing spell of 12 games in all competitions.

The Crew are coming off an emphatic 3-0 victory over the Supporters' Shield leaders, FC Cincinnati last weekend, moving them up to fifth in the Eastern Conference, while the Reds remain second from the bottom after a narrow 3-2 defeat at home to CF Montreal.

We say: Columbus Crew 3-1 Toronto

The Toronto backline have been inconsistent and out of sorts on many occasions of late and shutting down a side like Columbus with so many dangerous attacking pieces will be a massive challenge for this struggling side.

DC United vs. Philadelphia (Sunday, 12.30am)

DC United set out to end their run of three consecutive defeats when they go head to head with Philadelphia Union at the Audi Field on Saturday.

This will be the second meeting between the sides in the space of three weeks, with the Union packing up a penalty-shootout victory in their Leagues Cup last-16 clash on August 4.

We say: DC United 0-2 Philadelphia Union

The last five league meetings between DC United and Philadelphia Union have seen a combined 20 goals and we anticipate another action-packed contest at Audi Field. Curtin's men head into the weekend as the more in-form side and we fancy them picking up all three points.

Montreal vs. New England (Sunday, 12.30am)

CF Montreal celebrate after the win on June 21, 2023© Reuters

CF Montreal can maintain their narrow advantage in the Eastern Conference playoff picture when they host the New England Revolution on Saturday at Saputo Stadium in their first MLS home fixture since mid-July.

Le CFM won their first match back from the Leagues Cup break, 3-2 at Toronto, while the Revs will play their first domestic fixture this weekend since a 4-0 victory over DC United last month.

We say: CF Montreal 1-0 New England Revolution

Having such a lengthy layoff could be a detriment to New England this weekend, especially against a side like Montreal, who need results at this stage of the campaign a lot more than the Revs.

NY Red Bulls vs. Inter Miami (Sunday, 12.30am)

After enjoying success in the cup competitions, Inter Miami will return to MLS action with an away fixture against New York Red Bulls on Saturday.

While Inter Miami are sitting bottom of the Eastern Conference, the Red Bulls currently occupy 11th place in the standings.

We say: New York Red Bulls 1-2 Inter Miami

There will be some tired legs among the Inter Miami squad after playing 120 minutes in midweek, but with the visitors able to call upon Messi, Busquets and Alba, we think that world-class quality will help them claim a narrow victory.

Orlando City vs. St Louis City (Sunday, 12.30am)

Orlando City will attempt to claim a third consecutive victory in the MLS when they welcome St Louis City to Exploria Stadium on Saturday.

While the hosts are sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, St Louis are leading the way in the West with 44 points to their name.

We say: Orlando City 2-2 St Louis City

Games involving St Louis tend to be exciting affairs, and we think the first-ever meeting between Orlando and the Western Conference leaders will produce an enthralling contest, with both teams having to settle for a share of the spoils.

Dallas vs. Austin (Sunday, 1.30am)

After having time to recuperate from the Leagues Cup, Dallas will return to MLS action on Saturday when they welcome Austin FC to Toyota Stadium.

The visitors, meanwhile, will be looking for a response after they fell to a third straight defeat in all competitions last weekend.

We say: Dallas 2-1 Austin FC

Dallas have never lost a home game against Austin, and with their opponents low on confidence following three consecutive defeats, we think they will maintain that unbeaten record by claiming a narrow victory on Saturday.

Kansas vs. Earthquakes (Sunday, 1.30am)

Aiming to end a barren run which has seen them win just one of their last six games, Sporting Kansas City welcome San Jose Earthquakes to Children's Mercy Park on Sunday.

On the other hand, the away side will be looking to string together a decent run of results having blown hot and cold in recent weeks.

We say: Sporting Kansas City 2-1 San Jose Earthquakes

Goals have been a real feature of this fixture over the years and we expect that trend to continue here.

We can also see the home side just about doing enough to emerge triumphant come the end of the 90 minutes.

Salt Lake vs. Houston (Sunday, 2.30am)

Real Salt Lake midfielder Damir Kreilach (8) celebrates with team-mates after scoring a goal on June 21, 2023© Reuters

Real Salt Lake and Houston Dynamo will do battle for the second time in three days as they go head-to-head at the America First Field on Sunday.

The teams endured contrasting fates in their cup encounter last time out and they both head into this weekend's clash with a point to prove.

We say: Real Salt Lake 1-1 Houston Dynamo

Given their victory in this fixture just three days before Sunday's affair, Houston Dynamo have a bit of an edge here but Real Salt Lake will look to make home advantage count.

We are backing the sides to cancel each other out and settle for a point apiece in the end.

LA Galaxy vs. Chicago Fire (Sunday, 3.30am)

Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney on July 31, 2023© Reuters

Two teams undergoing a rough patch at the moment lock horns at Dignity Health Sports Park on Sunday as Los Angeles Galaxy play host to Chicago Fire.

Both sides are currently on a three-game losing streak heading into this weekend's affair, and neither will want to come away empty-handed.

We say: Los Angeles Galaxy 2-1 Chicago Fire

The goals have dried up a bit for both teams of late but we expect an open and end to end affair on Sunday. We also fancy the hosts to come out on top, albeit by only a narrow margin.

Portland vs. Vancouver (Sunday, 3.30am)

Portland Timbers forward Franck Boli (7) celebrates with midfielder Cristhian Paredes (22) after scoring a goal on June 21, 2023© Reuters

Under new management, the Portland Timbers return to Providence Park searching for their first MLS victory since the season paused for the Leagues Cup as they host the Vancouver Whitecaps in another Cascadia Cup clash on Saturday.

The Timbers were routed 5-0 by the Houston Dynamo last Sunday, putting them five points back of the Western Conference playoff line, while Vancouver had a two-match winning run at home snapped, losing 1-0 to the San Jose Earthquakes.

We say: Portland Timbers 1-1 Vancouver Whitecaps

We often see the best version of a side in the early tenure of a new manager, but although the Timbers should be very determined to make a statement following that lopsided defeat a week ago, the Caps' desperation and resilience we believe will be enough to earn them a result.
