Half-Time Report: Juventus holding on against Monaco

Juventus hold Monaco to a goalless first half in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash, putting the Italians on course for the last four.

Juventus have held AS Monaco to a goalless first half at the Stade Louis II, putting them just 45 minutes away from the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The hosts were the first to threaten as they set about overturning a one-goal deficit from the first leg, but Geoffrey Kondogbia flashed his volley the wrong side of the post having teed himself up on the edge of the box.

Monaco continued to do most of the early running and almost took the lead in fortuitous fashion 15 minutes in as Bernardo Silva's low cross was turned just past his own post by Andrea Barzagli.

Gianluigi Buffon was called into action just five minutes later, and again it was Kondogbia who threatened with a powerful strike from outside the box that the veteran keeper did well to handle.

The visitors were struggling to get their foot on the ball for any prolonged period of time as Monaco applied the pressure, with Joao Moutinho next to come close with a strike that deflected just over the crossbar from the edge of the box.

Juve almost grabbed a late opener just before the break, however, as they won the ball inside the Monaco half, only for Carlos Tevez to fire just wide from 20 yards.
