Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino admits that he is "open to quality players" amid speculation linking his side with a move for Bordeaux winger Malcom.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that his side are "open to quality players" amid speculation linking the club with a move for Bordeaux winger Malcom.

Malcom's future has been the subject of much debate in recent weeks following rumours linking him with a move to the Premier League, with Spurs and Arsenal understood to be monitoring the 20-year-old's situation.

Spurs are thought to have overtaken their North London rivals in the race for the Brazilian's signature, but Pochettino was coy on the chances of his side completing a deal this month.

"That is a rumour and I don't want to speak about it. I am happy with our squad," he told Sky Sports News following his side's 1-1 draw with Southampton.

"We are open to quality players but you know very well it is difficult in this transfer window."

Pochettino later added to BBC Sport: "It is not easy to add a player who can help for three months. It is very difficult. For some clubs it is easier but it is not easy for us."

Bordeaux are reluctant to lose Malcom and have previously ruled out of the prospect of selling the youngster before the end of the season.
