Toby Alderweireld wanted by Arsenal?

Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld is wanted by Arsenal as Gunners boss Arsene Wenger chases a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, according to a report.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweireld.

The Gunners have sold Thomas Vermaelen this summer and are believed to be in the market for a replacement defender.

According to the Daily Star, Alderweireld does not feature in Atletico manager Diego Simeone's plans for the future.

It is thought that the Belgian international, who has also been linked to Arsenal's local rivals Tottenham Hotspur, would command a transfer fee of around £6m.

Alderweireld joined the Spanish champions from Ajax last summer.
