Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that the recent controversy surrounding Jack Wilshere will have no impact on his place in the team.
Last week, the 22-year-old was criticised after being photographed smoking while on holiday in Las Vegas.
Wenger has admitted that he plans to speak to Wilshere about the incident, but if the midfielder is fully fit, then he will be in contention for a starting place.
"You make a case of Jack Wilshere, but I believe he's like any other player," Wenger is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
"He will face competition and if he's really fit then he has a good chance to play and it's exactly the same for everybody."
Wilshere made 24 appearances in the Premier League last season.
