Arsene Wenger rules out striker move

Arsene Wenger says that he does not intend to sign a new striker for Arsenal this summer.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he has no plans to a sign a striker this summer.

Olivier Giroud is regarded as the only senior forward in the team, although new signing Alexis Sanchez is capable of playing upfront.

Wenger was criticised last season for not bringing in any support for Giroud, but he has admitted that there are other areas in his squad that he is keen on improving.

"Up front we don't need any more," The Express quotes Wenger as saying. "It's not especially for numbers. We need a goalkeeper for sure and after that it depends on how our midfielders get through without injuries until the start of the season. Maybe at centre-back we'll still bring one in."

In addition to Sanchez's transfer, Arsenal have also brought full-back Mathieu Debuchy to the club.
