Manchester United will reportedly seek to sign Victor Osimhen if Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee both depart the club in the near future.

Manchester United have reportedly turned their attentions back to Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, with the futures of Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee unclear.

Rashford was dropped from the Man United squad entirely by new manager Ruben Amorim at the weekend for the Manchester derby, fuelling rumours his time at the club is coming to an end.

Seven goals across all competitions is not an awful return by any means, but all of Rashford's Premier League strikes have come against teams in the bottom five, he was dropped after scoring twice against Everton, hooked before the hour away to Viktoria Plzen, and then left out versus City.

Zirkzee also scored twice in the 4-0 win over Everton, but that trebled his tally for the season in one afternoon for a striker that has struggled to settle in Manchester.

With many clubs in Italy rumoured to be interested in taking him back this January, after a good season with Bologna last year, Man United may cut their losses with the Dutch forward within just six months.

Osimhen still on top form out in Turkey

Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has continued the excellent form he showed in Italy, netting 11 goals in 14 games so far.

The Nigerian striker has just returned from injury, and was a late substitute in Gala's dramatic 4-3 win over Trabzonspor on Monday night.

With suitors in Europe's top-five leagues though, CaughtOffside claim Man United have made a fresh approach for the 25-year-old striker, who turns 26 just before the end of the year.

Osimhen quickly sought an exit from Napoli after Antonio Conte took charge in the summer, but a move to Chelsea did not materialise, so that left him with no option but to move to Turkey if he wanted to depart the Italian club.

The loan deal for Osimhen runs only to the end of the season though, with Napoli expected to sell the striker permanently next summer, or even in January if the right offer comes along.

Man United's number nine woes

It is no secret that the Red Devils are in need of a proven, out-and-out number nine if they are to challenge near the top again.

The Rashford experiment appears to be coming to an end after almost nine years in the first team, and none of their recent recruits have hit the heights they hoped.

Osimhen, meanwhile, has plundered double figures for league goals in every season since 2018-19, doing so for Charleroi, Lille and in five successive seasons for Napoli.

With seven in the Super Lig already before the halfway point, Osimhen is on course to hit that tally again, and no suitors seem to have been put off by his venture to Turkey.
