Robin van Persie may be rested by Arsene Wenger for Arsenal's clash with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, according to reports.

Arsene Wenger has reportedly considered resting Robin van Persie for Arsenal's Premier League clash with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

The Gunners manager is rumoured to be worried by the number of games van Persie is being forced to play and may consider giving the Dutchman a break against struggling Rovers.

In a difficult season, Van Persie has started 22 of 23 league games for the North London club and tops the scoring charts with 21 goals.

If Wenger does rest his captain on Saturday it could mean that loanee Thierry Henry will be handed his first start since he joined from New York Red Bulls.

Arsenal are currently seventh in the Premier League.
