Report: Kieran Tierney may replace Hector Bellerin as Arsenal's vice-captain

Mikel Arteta may name Kieran Tierney as Arsenal's vice-captain should Hector Bellerin move on in the summer, according to a report.

Kieran Tierney is reportedly in line to replace Hector Bellerin as vice-captain should the Spanish full-back leave Arsenal at the end of the season.

Bellerin, who has spent the past decade with the Gunners, continues to be linked with a move away ahead of the summer transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain are said to be interested in the 25-year-old, while the defender's former club Barcelona have also been touted as a possible next destination.

football.london suggests that, should Bellerin indeed move on in the next few months, fellow full-back Tierney has been earmarked to take over as vice-skipper.

Scotland international Tierney has become a fans' favourite since joining from Celtic in a £25m deal 18 months ago, making just short of 50 appearances in that time.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is Arsenal's current captain, having taken over the leadership duties from Granit Xhaka in November 2019.
