Anderlecht have hinted that Newcastle United target Aleksandar Mitrovic could yet sign for an Italian club.
The 20-year-old striker was thought to be on the brink of joining the Magpies after his agent announced that confirmation of the deal was imminent.
However, Italian giants Roma are reported to have entered the race late on, and sporting director Herman van Holsbeeck confirmed that he is "very busy" with the transfer.
"We are talking to different clubs," the Anderlecht chief told Calciomercato.it. "Will his future be in Italy? I cannot name names, but we are very busy."
The Belgium international, who has 13 caps, netted 28 times in 51 games last season.
