Morning all! Sunday’s La Liga coverage opens from Andalusia as Almeria welcome Getafe. The home side enter the match off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Villarreal last weekend, with that result leaving them in 18th position in the table. Getafe, meanwhile, picked up a point against Real Sociedad last weekend. As a result, they sit in 12th position on 24 points.

In terms of the recent meetings between the two sides, Getafe have won three of the last five matches, with Almeria also winning once and the further two games ending in draws. As mentioned, the last time the two sides met in this stadium was in December 2010, when Getafe picked up all three points with a 3-2 win.

So there we have it. No Helder Barbosa or Corona in the Almeria XI, but Jonathan Zongo and Suso both start. There are also spots for Marcos Tebar and Aleix Vidal. Getafe, meanwhile, prefer Ciprian Marica to Adrian Colunga in attack, while Lacen and Escudero both drop to the bench.

As it stands, Almeria sit in 18th position in the table on 19 points. The newly-promoted outfit have won just five of their 20 matches, drawing four and losing 11 times. Real Valladolid’s win over Villarreal on Saturday dropped them into the bottom three, while just two teams – the bottom two, Rayo Vallecano and Real Betis – have a worse goal difference.

Three of Almeria’s five league wins this season have come on their travels. At home, they have won two of their nine matches, losing four times in the process. They have recovered following a terrible start to the season, but their performances have dropped in recent weeks. There is no question that they are one of a number of teams fighting the drop this season.

Goals have not been too much of a problem for Almeria in relation to the teams around them with 21 strikes in their 20 matches. Getafe, meanwhile, have managed just 22 goals. Down the other end, however, Almeria have struggled with 40 goals conceded, which is the third-worst record in the league. Getafe have not fared much better with 33 conceded.

Getafe ended a run of four straight defeats in all competitions with a 2-2 draw against Real Sociedad in the league last time out. As it stands, they sit in 12th position in the table on 24 points. They might be six places above their opponents this afternoon, but just five points separate the two sides. That is an indication of the closeness in the bottom half of the table.

Getafe’s home form this season has been patchy with four wins, three draws and four defeats, while they have lost six times on their travels. Victory this afternoon could move them into eighth position, but a couple of bad results could see them drop into trouble. Aside from the top seven teams, everyone is looking over their shoulder.

PREDICTION: Neither of these sides enter the match in the best form, but I have a feeling that we could have a match full of goals. I am finding it difficult to separate the pair and will therefore back a score draw in Andalusia.

The away team continue to look the more progressive in the final third, but they are still struggling to fashion a clear shooting opportunity. Marica delivers another low cross into the box, but Trujillo is across to clear at the vital moment.

Neither side is too interested in defending at the moment with opportunities at either end. Marica has an effort blocked for Getafe, before Suso stings the palms of Moya down the other end.
