Grigor Dimitrov through at China Open

Grigor Dimitrov is through to the second round of the China Open with a 6-1 3-6 6-3 victory over Fernando Verdasco.

Grigor Dimitrov has reached the second round of the China Open with a three-set victory over Spain's Fernando Verdasco.

The Bulgarian fifth seed was dominant in the opening set as two breaks of his opponent's serve saw him take it 6-1 in just 20 minutes.

Verdasco fought back to level the match 6-3 in the second, but an energised Dimitrov sealed his progress by closing out the contest 6-1 3-6 6-3.

The Wimbledon semi-finalist will now face either Julien Benneteau or Pablo Andujar for a place in the last eight of the tournament.
