Boaz Myhill ready to capitalise on West Bromwich Albion starting spot

Boaz Myhill says that he would "love to play" for West Bromwich Albion again this weekend, having recently been called upon to replace the injured Ben Foster.

Boaz Myhill has insisted that he is ready to start for West Bromwich Albion this weekend once more should he be called upon.

The 31-year-old was handed his first Premier League start since December 2013 against Manchester United on Monday night, filling in for Ben Foster who picked up an injury in training.

It is not yet known how long Foster will remain out of action, although with the England international a doubt for this weekend's match against Crystal Palace, Myhill has made it clear that he is ready to take over.

"It's been 10-11 months since I put my kit on in this league so it was good to get out there," he is quoted as saying by the Birmingham Mail. "Ben got a knock in training and it was worse than we thought it was. Ben was doing well but I'm here to do the job when he can't play. We hope he'll be back as soon as possible.

"I'd love to play again. That's what I'm here for but everyone at the club will be wanting to get Ben back quickly. It's my job to do it when he can't so maybe I'll get another game under my belt.

"It's been a long time since I last played. I'm no different to everyone else – I want to play as much as I can and I will prepare as if I'm playing."

West Brom are currently 14th in the league table.
