Torino edge past Bologna

Danilo D'Ambrosio's second-half goal proves to be the difference as Torino defeat Bologna 1-0 at home.

Torino have brought an end to their six-game winless run with a 1-0 victory over Bologna at home in Serie A.

Danilo D'Ambrosio scored the only goal of the afternoon in Turin when he headed home Mario Santana's cross from close range on 75 minutes.

However, it was the visitors who started the match the brighter of the two teams when Alessandro Diamanti shot just wide in the early minutes.

Gianluca Sansone almost turned in Alessio Cerci's delivery for Torino, but was denied by a wonderful save from Federico Agliardi.

Cerci then shot high over the Bologna crossbar.

The visitors could have taken the lead five minutes after half-time, but Alberto Gilardino's header from Saphir Taider's cross went narrowly wide.

Then midway through the half D'Ambrosio broke the deadlock for the Turin club with a header.

Bologna came on strongly for the remainder of the match, with Diamanti and Gilardino failing find the target by mere inches.
