Swansea City fall to Minnesota United defeat

Swansea City lose in the second match of their tour of the USA, falling to a 2-0 defeat to Minnesota United as Justin Davies and Greg Jordan score for the home side.

Swansea City fell to a 2-0 defeat to Minnesota United in their pre-season friendly clash.

The home side took the lead in the eighth minute when the Swans failed to clear the loose ball from a corner and Justin Davies turned the ball past Gerhard Tremmel from close range.

Garry Monk's side had the chance to hit back immediately when Brent Kallman lost the ball to Wilfried Bony, but the striker could only hit his chip straight at Mitch Hildebrandt.

The Swans pressed again and came close from a Jonjo Shelvey corner as Kyle Bartley directed his header just over the bar from the pinpoint delivery.

However, the home side doubled their lead just before half time when Christian Ramirez's flick-on was met by Greg Jordan at the back post, who fired past Tremmel.

Swansea held the majority of possession in the second half but struggled to carve out any clear-cut chances.

Monk's side had to wait until the 75th minute when Marvin Emnes found space to fire a drive at goal from the edge of the box, but his effort was well saved by Hildebrandt as Minnesota held out for the win.
