Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr signs a new long-term contract to keep him at the club until 2030.

Pape Matar Sarr has signed a new long-term Tottenham contract to keep him at the club until 2030.

The 21-year-old has established himself as a key member of Ange Postecoglou's first-team set-up in North London so far this season, featuring in 18 of their 20 Premier League games under the Australian manager.

Sixteen of those appearances have been from the start, while he has contributed two goals and two assists in that time, including scoring in the 3-1 victory over Bournemouth on New Year's Eve.

Sarr was later forced to leave that match prematurely due to a hamstring injury, limping off the field in tears around the half-hour mark.

Despite the injury, the midfielder has been included in Aliou Cisse's Senegal squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, where Sarr will be looking to help his nation retain their title.

The 16-time Senegal international initially joined Spurs in 2021 before being loaned back to Metz for the 2021-22 campaign.

Sarr then broke into the Tottenham first team with 14 appearances last season, before developing into an integral part of Postecoglou's plans this term.

The defensive midfielder has made 33 appearances in total for Spurs, scoring five times.

Sarr's new six-and-a-half-year contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium sees him commit his long-term future to the club, who currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, six points off leaders Liverpool.

While Sarr gears up for international duty with Senegal, Spurs will next turn their attention to an FA Cup third round tie with Burnley on Friday, before returning to Premier League action away to Manchester United on January 14.
