Mauricio Pochettino urges Tottenham fans to "support" Emmanuel Adebayor

Mauricio Pochettino says that Emmanuel Adebayor needs to "feel the support" from the fans, many of whom have booed him in recent games.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino believes that the fans need to get behind Emmanuel Adebayor because he needs to feel their "support".

The Togolese forward, who criticised the fans for their lack of backing in the early phase of the season, has been booed in Spurs' last two fixtures.

Some fans were also left baffled when Adebayor was handed the captaincy for Tottenham's 1-0 win over Sheffield United in the League Cup semi-final first leg earlier this week.

"I think this is the best because all players need to feel the support from the stands from our supporters," talkSPORT quotes Pochettino as saying.

"I think it's better for him and for the team. We always need to create a great atmosphere to try to get success."

Adebayor joined Spurs on a permanent deal from Manchester City in 2012.
