Maya Yoshida has said that Southampton should be looking ahead of them with four games of the Premier League season remaining.
The Saints are currently 12th in the league table, three points off a spot in the top 10.
They welcome West Bromwich Albion to St Mary's this afternoon and will cut the gap on the eighth-placed Baggies to just three points with a victory.
"If we get one more point or three points we are almost safe but I think we should put more focus on higher targets," Sky Sports News quotes Yoshida as saying.
"Many players have signed new contracts like Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Artur Boruc - and if we keep the same players and get new players in the summer we will have a big opportunity to get more points and have big ambitions."
Yoshida arrived on the South Coast from Dutch side VVV-Velo last summer.
