Southampton boss Claude Puel remains confident that the Saints will gain their first Premier League win of the season soon enough.

Southampton manager Claude Puel has insisted that his side are closing in on their first Premier League win of the season.

The Saints have been unable to get over the line domestically during Puel's early reign, but the club did manage to produce a standout performance to claim a 3-0 Europa League victory over Sparta Prague during the week.

"It was a good result for us in Europe, now it is important to carry on the same work in the Premier League," Puel told reporters ahead of their next league game with Swansea City.

"It will be important for us and our fans also, because it is important to keep a good efficient team, to score and be rewarded for all of the many good things we can make in our game.

"We have the possibilities to play against the football of every opponent."

Southampton currently find themselves in 18th place in the league standings, having earned two points from four games.
