Sevilla up to third with victory over rock-bottom Deportivo La Coruna

Sevilla climb up to third in La Liga by seeing off rock-bottom Deportivo La Coruna 4-1.

Sevilla have bounced back from last week's disappointing loss to Atletico Madrid with a convincing 4-1 victory over lowly Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga.

The hosts took the lead midway through the first half when Stephane Mbia powerfully met Gerard Deulofeu's corner from the right.

Depor equalised not long after when Haris Medunjanin curled home a 25-yard free kick.

Carlos Bacca restored Sevilla's lead before the break with a cool finish after bringing the ball down in the area and rounding Depor keeper German Lux.

Mbia had his second goal of the game shortly before the hour mark when he tucked home Vitolo's cutback to put Sevilla two goals in front for the first time in the match.

Vitolo then put the game beyond doubt five minutes later after receiving the ball in acres of space on the right of the area.

Three points for Sevilla lifts them above Atletico and into third place, just a point behind second-placed Valencia and three adrift of pacesetters Barcelona.

Depor stay bottom and now have the joint-worst goal difference in the league.
