Sports Mole previews Wednesday's League One clash between Peterborough United and Stevenage, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Peterborough United will have the chance to record a fifth consecutive victory in all competitions when they face Stevenage at the Weston Homes Stadium on Wednesday.

Posh currently occupy fourth spot in the League One table, while the visitors are seven points further back in sixth position.

Match preview

Peterborough are enjoying an impressive run of form which began with a commanding 3-0 win over Blackpool in the EFL Trophy semi-finals.

Since booking their place at Wembley, Posh have seen off Cambridge United, Exeter City and Northampton Town, before claiming a 3-1 victory in Saturday's away meeting with Burton Albion.

Ricky-Jade Jones saw his opening goal cancelled out by Ademola Ola-Adebomi, but Peterborough still managed to leave the Pirelli Stadium with all three points thanks to late efforts from Josh Knight and Jonson Clarke-Harris.

Having moved up to fourth position, Darren Ferguson's side are four points adrift of second-placed Derby County with a game in hand.

Although Posh are now preparing to face one of the league's strongest defences, they will be confident of breaching the Stevenage backline after scoring 41 goals in 17 home league matches – no other side has registered more home goals in the division.

Stevenage, meanwhile, have put together a four-game unbeaten run since suffering their most recent defeat to Derby on February 17.

While they have kept clean sheets in all four of those matches, they have had to settle for goalless draws in their last two outings against Lincoln City and Fleetwood Town.

With 10 games left to play, Steve Evans's side are sitting in the playoff places and one point clear of Oxford United in seventh position.

Stevenage will turn their focus to Wednesday's trip to the Weston Homes Stadium, where they will attempt to end a three-game winless away run.

They can certainly take confidence from the fact that they have avoided defeat in each of their last three competitive matches against Posh.

Team News

Peterborough have reported no fresh injury concerns, but they remain without the services of Will Blackmore, Jacob Wakeling and Jeando Fuchs.

Despite coming off the bench to score a late goal against Burton, Clarke-Harris may have to settle for a place among the substitutes once again, with Ferguson poised to select an unchanged lineup.

Jones is set to make a third consecutive start after scoring his ninth league goal of the season in the win over Burton.

As for the visitors, midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey is a doubt after he missed the home game against Fleetwood.

Evans could be tempted to freshen up his midfield, with Nick Freeman in contention to start following Saturday's appearance as a half-time substitute.

Elliott List will provide Evans with a useful option off the bench after he returned from injury to gain some valuable minutes at the weekend.

Peterborough United possible starting lineup:
Steer; Katongo, Edwards, Knight, Burrows; Kyprianou, Collins; Poku, Randall, Mason-Clark; Jones

Stevenage possible starting lineup:
Ashby-Harris; James-Wildin, Vancooten, Piergianni, Butler; L. Thompson, Burns, Freeman; Roberts; Hemmings, Reid

We say: Peterborough United 2-1 Stevenage

Peterborough are enjoying a scintillating run of form, and while they will face a tricky test on Wednesday, we think that they will do enough to claim a narrow victory.
