Half-Time Report: Jonathan Forte penalty gives Oldham Athletic lead

A Jonathan Forte penalty in first-half injury time gives Oldham Athletic a 1-0 half-time lead in their League One clash against Fleetwood Town.

A Jonathan Forte penalty on the stroke of half time has given Oldham Athletic a 1-0 lead over Fleetwood Town in this afternoon's League One clash at Sportsdirect.com Park.

The first effort of the match came in the fourth minute, when a corner kick fell to Liam Kelly just outside the Fleetwood box, but the Latics captain fired over the bar.

The home side came close again just before the quarter-hour mark, when a counter-attack led to Forte blasting an effort just wide.

Oldham kept pushing forward, troubling the Cod Army defence throughout the rest of the first half courtesy of chances for Danny Philliskirk and Carl Winchester.

Just when it seemed like the first 45 minutes would end goalless, Philliskirk was brought down in the area, with the referee subsequently awarding the Latics a penalty.

Forte made no mistake from the spot to send his side a goal up at the break.
