Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer after scouts of the Premier League club were at Ibrox on Sunday to watch the 23-year-old.
Despite the Hoops' demoralising defeat to Old Firm rivals Rangers at the weekend, Steve Bruce is aiming to bolster his defensive options with the addition of the Norwegian international.
Ajer's contract is due to expire in 2022 and it is believed that he is destined to leave the Scottish giants, who have seen their nine-year reign at the top of the Scottish Premiership end this season.
According to The Sun, recently crowned Championship winners Norwich City are also linked to Ajer, who is valued at £8m by his current club Celtic.
Former Rangers player Kris Boyd put the blame on the Celtic centre-back for Steven Gerrard's side's second goal, accusing him of avoiding the strike from Alfredo Morelos.
The Norwegian arrived at Celtic Park in 2016 and has gone on to make 174 appearances for the club.
