Newcastle reportedly eye Olympiacos manager Pedro Martins as an outside candidate to take over at St. James' Park after Steve Bruce's exit.

Newcastle United have reportedly identified Olympiacos boss Pedro Martins as a candidate to take over as manager at St. James' Park.

Following the exit of Steve Bruce at the beginning of October, the new Magpies owners have been searching for a new coach to take the reins, and they may have turned their attention to an unlikely candidate.

According to HITC, they have now identified the 51-year-old as a potential option, with the Portuguese manager said to be keen on a Premier League move.

Martins has led Olympiacos for three years, taking them to consecutive Greek Super League titles in the last two seasons, after previously managing the likes of Maritimo, Rio Ave and Vitoria de Guimaraes.

He joins a list of rumoured names, with Erik ten Hag having previously been identified as the prime candidate, while Unai Emery, Paulo Fonseca and Lucien Favre are now said to be among the frontrunners.
