Marseille held by Ajaccio

Marseille lose ground in the race for the Ligue 1 title with a goalless draw at home to Ajaccio.

Marseille have dropped points in the race for the Ligue 1 title with a goalless draw at home to Ajaccio.

The hosts dominated the first half, but Andre-Pierre Gignac and Mathieu Valbuena were both off target with two efforts each.

Despite spending most of the opening 45 minutes in their own half, Ajaccio nearly snatched the lead after the restart when Frederic Sammaritano flashed a shot narrowly wide.

Guillermo Ochoa kept out Modou Sougou's effort with an hour played as Marseille struggled to breach the away defence.

Substitute Jordan Ayew nearly won it for the hosts with 10 minutes left, but his header looped marginally wide of the far post.
