Real Madrid are reportedly keen to take Donny van de Beek on loan from Manchester United as part of a deal for Raphael Varane.
Los Blancos have supposedly accepted that Varane will seek pastures new this summer, but they are not prepared to let Man United get their man on the cheap.
A recent report claimed that United could look to use Paul Pogba as part of a deal, but Real Madrid are thought to have their eye on another one of the Old Trafford midfield contingent.
According to The Sun, Real would be interested in a season-long loan for Van de Beek, which would also include an obligation to buy in the summer of 2022.
The report adds that Real Madrid came close to landing Van de Beek in the summer transfer window last year, but the La Liga side could not offload enough players to raise funds, allowing United to swoop in.
The Dutchman ended the 2020-21 campaign with 26 United appearances under his belt, but he only started four Premier League games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
