Manchester United have reportedly seen a deadline-day approach for Danny Ings rejected by Southampton.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his attacking options before tonight's 11pm transfer deadline after an injury to Marcus Rashford left him with only Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood as available strikers.
United are understood to have made two bids for Bournemouth forward Joshua King, while they have also been linked with the likes of Edinson Cavani, Willian Jose, Yannick Carrasco and Odion Ighalo in recent days.
The Telegraph claims that they have now added Ings to their list of potential targets, only to be knocked back in their pursuit by Southampton, who have no interest in selling their leading goalscorer.
The former Liverpool striker has only been outscored by Jamie Vardy and Sergio Aguero in the Premier League this season, despite Southampton struggling against relegation for much of the campaign.
Ings's form has been a major reason behind Southampton's ascent up the table in recent months, with the Saints now sitting ninth and only three points adrift of United.
