Man United 'in pole position to sign Koulibaly'

Manchester United are the favourites to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly the favourites to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly during this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils broke the world transfer record for a centre-back when they signed Harry Maguire from Leicester City ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

Only Liverpool, Sheffield United and Leicester City have conceded fewer Premier League goals than United this season, although Victor Lindelof is yet to really convince at the heart of the defence.

According to Il Mattino, Koulibaly could be on his way out of Napoli this summer due to their struggles in Serie A, and four Premier League clubs are in the hunt for the Senegal international's signature.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have been credited with an interest, but United are allegedly in pole position to sign the 28-year-old in a big-money deal.

Napoli are said to be desperate to keep hold of the centre-back but might be forced into a sale should they fail to qualify for next season's Europa League.

Koulibaly, who has also previously been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Manchester City, has not played in Serie A since the middle of December due to a thigh problem.
