Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl is "very confident" when it comes to a potential new contract for German attacker Jamal Musiala.

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has said that he is "very confident" when it comes to a potential new contract for Jamal Musiala.

There is currently a host of speculation surrounding the Germany international's future, with Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool said to be among the clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.

Musiala has a contract at Allianz Arena until June 2026, but there have been claims that he could potentially be available next summer if Bayern are unable to convince him to sign a new deal.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the best young players in world football, and he has represented Bayern on 171 occasions, scoring 46 goals and registering 34 assists in the process.

Musiala has been in strong form for his German club this season, scoring three goals and registering three assists in eight appearances in all competitions.

Eberl "very confident" over new deal for Musiala

Eberl has said that he is "very confident" a new deal will be agreed, claiming that the German "should become the face of Bayern".

"I'm very confident to get a new deal done for Jamal Musiala. We are in talks, something is happening here and Jamal is noticing that too. He should become the face of Bayern, I'm optimistic. I don't see why he should leave the club," Eberl told reporters.

However, Musiala recently said that he was "open to anything", with the German not closing the door on a return to England to join one of the elite clubs in the top flight.

"I don't really have a plan or anything. I don't try to think too far ahead about where I want to be, because the situation can change from year to year or month to month. I don't know. I'm open to anything, but I'm very happy where I am now," Musiala recently told Sky Deutschland.

How will the Musiala situation play out?

Musiala represented Southampton and Chelsea during his youth career before moving to Bayern in 2019, and he has developed into one of the best young players in world football.

It is difficult to imagine Bayern letting Musiala leave, but if the attacker makes it clear that he wants to depart, then it will be tough for them to reject sizeable offers next summer.

The German club's president Herbert Hainer recently claimed that Musiala could stay at the club for over two decades.

"I have a lot of respect for Jamal When you see how he has developed, it's incredible. We want to do everything we can to keep him at FC Bayern in the long term," he told Abendzeitung Muenchen. "In my opinion, he could easily become the next Thomas Muller and play here for the next 20 years. I'm very optimistic."

However, the glamour of the Premier League will be enticing for Musiala, and it will be fascinating to see whether he makes a big-money switch to an English giant during next summer's transfer window.
