Manchester United secure nervy win

Two late goals help Manchester United come from behind to beat Stoke City at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have beaten Stoke City 3-2 this afternoon after coming from 2-1 behind.

The away side shocked the home crowd with the opening goal after only three minutes. Tom Cleverley lost possession and when the ball was played into the area, Peter Crouch forced David de Gea into a save before slotting in the rebound.

Man Utd's response was immediate but Nani placed a shot high over the bar after making space on the edge of the box.

However, it could have been 2-0 to Stoke after only 15 minutes. Marko Arnautovic sent the ball in, but after Jonathan Walters had headed back across goal, Crouch could only flick over.

Robin van Persie threatened for the home side, although he was unable to find the target with a curling right-footed shot.

Stoke continued to push forward and again De Gea was forced to save his side, this time pushing away Walters's shot before holding Arnautovic's volley.

Arnautovic again failed to find the net, this time curling over, and the home side made them pay for their profligacy as Van Persie pulled United level.

However, Mark Hughes's side shocked Old Trafford again as they regained the lead two minutes later through Arnautovic's free kick.

United's best chance in the opening 15 minutes of the second half was a Van Persie free kick which hit the wall.

Ryan Shawcross then blocked Wayne Rooney's shot, but United were struggling to find a way past the Stoke defence.

However, the equalising goal did come through Rooney's glancing header, and just a minute later the turnaround was complete as Javier Hernandez headed home.
