Officials deny European Super League talks?

Officials from five Premier League teams supposedly did not discuss a European breakaway league in London, contrary to a previous report.

Officials of English football's five biggest clubs did not hold discussions over a breakaway European Super League yesterday afternoon, according to a report.

It was speculated that representatives of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool had all met with American billionaire Stephen Ross at London's Dorchester Hotel.

During the meeting, it was claimed that negotiations were held regarding the introduction of a division that extinguished the risk of missing out on the revenue provided by European football, thus ending the Champions League as a competition.

However, PA claims that the main subject of the talks was in fact the International Champions Cup - a tournament that Ross helped to create.

The ICC is a pre-season tournament that is played over a number of venues across the world.
