Ander Herrera attacks Manchester United for not making success on the pitch their main priority.

Ander Herrera has attacked Manchester United for not making success on the pitch its main priority.

The Spaniard spent five years at the Theatre of Dreams and became a favourite among supporters ahead of joining Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer over the summer.

Meanwhile, many have sought to explain United's continued failure on the pitch this season through pointing out the proclivity of vice-chairman Ed Woodward to place too much emphasis on hitting short-term financial targets and not enough time on a long-term football project.

Reflecting on his time at Old Trafford, Herrera told So Foot: "I was very happy at that incredible club. I am very grateful to the supporters.

"Frankly, I was immensely happy in Manchester, but at the club, there were times when I felt that football was not considered the most important thing."

United, who sit 10th in the Premier League table after 11 games, meet Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Herrera was open to staying at United but ultimately moved to PSG after the former stalled on offering him a two-year contract.
