Manchester United could be without nine players for Saturday's Premier League clash with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Manchester United are facing being without the services of nine first-team players for Saturday's Premier League clash with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

The Red Devils will enter the contest against the Cherries off the back of a chaotic 2-2 draw with Liverpool in the league, with the result further denting their hopes of a top-four or top-five finish in the table.

Erik ten Hag's side are sixth in England's top flight, 11 points behind both fifth-placed Aston Villa and fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the battle to secure a Champions League spot for next term.

Man United will go in search of their first league win in over a month in Saturday's late start, but nine players could potentially be unavailable for selection against Andoni Iraola's side.

There are five definite absentees at this stage, with left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia facing battles to return to action before the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Meanwhile, centre-back pair Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez are out until at least the start of May due to hamstring and calf problems respectively.

Anthony Martial has returned to individual training, as he steps up his recovery from a groin operation, but the Frenchman is yet to return to full sessions alongside his teammates.

The forward is out of contract this summer, meanwhile, and Ten Hag recently admitted that he could not guarantee the ex-Monaco youngster would play for the club again.

Scott McTominay is yet to be officially ruled out of this match, but it is believed that the problem that forced him to miss the Liverpool game last weekend will sideline him for the next two to three weeks.

Man United are currently missing four centre-backs

Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans both missed out against Liverpool due to problems which were suffered during the 2-2 draw with Chelsea last week.

Evans replaced Varane off the bench after the ex-France international picked up an issue in the first period, but the experienced defender had to be replaced soon after.

Both were absent against Liverpool, meaning that Willy Kambwala made just his second Premier League start alongside Harry Maguire in the middle of the defence.

There was concern over Marcus Rashford's fitness when he was replaced in the second half of the clash with Liverpool, but the England international said that he was "okay" on social media earlier this week.

Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo were also substituted late on against Liverpool, but both changes were tactical calls from the manager, and the duo are training this week ahead of the Bournemouth clash.
