Liverpool reportedly submit a £20m bid to sign Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, who has less than 12 months remaining on his current contract.

Liverpool have reportedly submitted a £20m offer to sign Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa.

Since joining Aston Villa from Manchester City in 2019, Luiz has scored six goals and contributed eight assists in 115 appearances for the club.

With less than one year remaining on his contract, Luiz's future with Villa appears to be uncertain after being linked with Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in January.

Roma and Juventus are also believed to be admirers of the 24-year-old, who was reportedly in talks over a new three-year deal with the club.

However, with a new contract yet to be confirmed, the Birmingham Mail are reporting that Liverpool have made a £20m bid for Luiz.

With Liverpool struggling with an injury crisis in midfield, they are looking to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes.

The Reds could still face competition from Atletico Madrid, although they are prepared to wait until Luiz becomes a free agent next summer.
